Tippets can be used for tying your own leaders or if the tapered leader gets too short after switching fly, you can tie in a new tip section. Most tippets are sold in small and convenient spools that fits inside pockets easily. Two basic materials of tippet are monofilament (nylon) and fluorocarbon. Monofilament have nice stretch and can be used for almost all fly fishing styles. Fluorocarbon sinks faster and it has better abrasion resistance. Fluorocarbon is popular material in nymph fishing and stillwater fishing. Fluorocarbon and monofilament can be tricky to knot together so we recommend using tippet ring in the middle. Indicator leader materials for euro nymph fishing can be found also from this category.
