Whiting capes have been graded in accordance with their Olympic grading system:

• Gold: Gold grade capes have an abundance of top-quality long feathers in all sizes. These capes are absolutely top-notch compared to any other. From one cape, you can tie hundreds, if not thousands, of flies, as one feather can tie hackle for up to five flies.
• Silver: Silver grade capes also feature top-quality material. The difference from Gold grade capes is that there are slightly fewer feathers, and not as many small feathers.
• Bronze: Bronze grade capes have a slightly smaller quantity of feathers, and no feathers suitable for the very smallest flies.
• Pro Grade: Basic quality hackle material for general use. The quantity and quality of feathers vary.
• Commercial Grade: A good choice for beginners in fly tying or for professional fly tiers. The stiffness and quality of the barbs are sufficient for tying effective fishing flies, but feathers may have some cosmetic imperfections, such as broken tips.
