UV2 Select Bucktail is selected and treated with ultraviolet coloring process. UV2 treated products reflect ultraviolet radiation that is visible for fish. It helps fish to see the fly and spot it easily from surroundings.
Bucktails' hair are vigorous and slightly curly which helps you to create natural looking profile for fly. Bucktail hair absorbs water only little which allows tying lightweight and easily casting flies.
It is one of the most common material for pike, seatrout and salmon flies. Bucktail patterns are extremely popular in many stillwater flies, such as Clouser Minnow and Hollow Deceiver. Many classic streamer patterns have bucktail in recipe as well. Bucktail can be used as both wing and tail.
Total length of the tail is about 25 cm and width 10 cm. Hair length is approximately 6 - 10 cm.
Ultravision UV2 is a proprietary process of dying that enhances material, adds visibility and natural color spectrums. Double dye process gives UV2 materials and flies the added UVF/UVR ultraviolet wave lengths.
- UVF is the UV Fluorescence. It is common on everything from street signs to bass lures. Lighter colors have stronger UVF effect on human eyes and darker colors weaker.
- UVR is the UV Reflectance. It is a spectrum of wave lengths humans can not perceive yet is extremely common in the animal and insect world. UVR allows mayflies to find mates, and bees to find flowers. Many male birds and bugs have a strong natural UVR signature.
