Cortland Level Sinking Tip is designed for building DIY sink tips for skagit heads. The Level Sinking Line allows anglers to cut to a desired length for heads and tips or use as is for trolling flies. Ideal for stripping the PVC jacket and creating a loop for quick and easy tip, head, and leader changes. You can also use braided loops. Do-it-yourself sink tip is ideal for skagit lines as you can fine-tune the length.
When speaking of skagit lines, ideal sink tip length is usually about the same as the rod length. For example 13 feet rod usually casts best about 4 meter long tips. However, there is also other factors that play a role when fine-tuning the tip length, such as rod length & action, skagit head's weight, tip weight & sinking rate and personal preferences. As a rule of thumb, the lighter (e.g. 10 GPF) sinking tip is used, longer the tip can be. Correspondingly, when using a heavier sink tip (e.g. 20 GPF), the length of the tip can be cut shorter so that the skagit line can easily turn it.
Cortland Level Sinking Line features:
- Sold in unit of 1 meter - if you want to build 5 meter long tip, order 5 pieces of desired tip material
- Use for building your own sink tips
- No factory made loops - create your own
- 10 GPF, 15 GPF and 20 GPF have monofilament core
- 25 GPF has braided core
- Color: Black
Tips are rated in Grains Per Foot (GPF) and Inches Per Second (IPS). Material is available in different weight classes: 10 GPF, 15 GPF, 20 GPF ja 25 GPF. Number means weight (grains) per foot. GPF rating is similar to more widely used T-rating for T-tips. For example T-10 tip weighs the same as 10 GPF, i.e. both weigh 10 grains per feet.
