RIO T-tips are now available at any length you want (one meter steps). You can easily build sink tips from these lines. Sink tip is ideal choice for high water. You can use it with your fly line. Just attach tip to your fly line (loop-to-loop) and go fishing! Works best with skagit heads.
When using T-tips with Skagit lines, a rule of thumb for the length of the T-tip is approximately the length of your rod. For example, when fishing with a 13 foot long double hand rod, a good starting point is to choose a tip of about 4 meters. However, the appropriate length of the T-tip is also influenced by the action of the rod, casting technique, weight & length of the shooting head and the sinking speed of the tip, as well as personal preferences. As a rule, the lighter, i.e. slower sinking tip (e.g. T-8) is used, the longer the tip can be made. Correspondingly, when using a heavier, faster sinking tip (e.g. T-17), the length of the tip can be shortened so that the Skagit line can turn it easily.
