RIO Elite Scandi Outbound is a series of integrated Scandi style shooting heads, with the shooting head seamlessly attached to the appropriately sized shooting line – negating the frustration of loop-to-loop joins running through the rod rings, as with usual shooting head systems.

The Scandi head design is incredibly easy to cast and built to load a Spey rod quickly and efficiently, tapered to deliver tight loops that unroll effortlessly, and with a weight distribution that will turn over flies with precision and ease.

Available in two densities, Floating and Hover, the integrated RIO Elite Scandi OutBound covers the needs of most salmon and sea trout anglers. The floating line excels in summer conditions and lower water and provides perfect presentation of small to medium flies. The hover version sinks very slowly and comes into its own on windy days, in cooler temperatures, and when fishing in higher or heavier flows. It offers added control without sacrificing castability when just a tiny bit more depth is needed.

For 2026, the UK’s best-selling Salmon line has been upgraded with two new features. The first is that the shooting line is now RIO’s acclaimed Elite Metered Shooting Line, a shooting line that changes colour every 10 feet to improve distance control and judgement, and maintain consistent casting performance across sessions.

These lines are not designed to have sink tips added to, but work exceptionally well with floating, intermediate, and sinking VersiLeaders on the front end - when extra depth is required (available separately):

• RIO Heavy Versileader – Scandi line rated #9 and above
